Configure Source Database for the Live GI mode

Step 1. Creation of the Shared Folder for the new Live Database and mount the folder to the source database server.

  1. Install the GiAgent-application on the Source Database Server.

  2. Connect the new GiAgent to Accelario Server (Source Management → CONNECT GI AGENT):

  3. Insert the info and the connection details for the new Live Database (Source Management → CREATE LIVE DB)

In result the new Database (and the volume for this new Database) will appear in Snapshot Management Screen (Snapshots Management → Source Database )

The new volume will be mounted on the Source Database Server:

In Linux send the “mount“ command to see the mounted volumes

Also, you can see the path of the new mounted volume in “Info“ screen:

On this stage the volume is not available yet for taking snapshots, creating clones etc.

Step 2. Create the Oracle Database in the new mounted volume.

This step should be performed by the database administrator.

The requirements of this database are:

  1. all files (datafiles+redologs) should be under the new mounted volume

  2. the database is open in read-write mode

  3. the spfile is located in new mounted volume in location ./data/spfile$ORACLE_SID.ora

Step 3. Activation of the new Database

When the Oracle database was created you can “activate“ the volume (to allow to take snapshots, create clones etc.)

After the validation and the activation the first Snapshot will be created automatically.
