Accelario Server – an appliance running Accelario Virtualization software. This is the central management component of the Accelario platform. It provides a web-based user interface for managing the Accelario environment, including creating and configuring VDBs, monitoring performance, and managing users and permissions.

Generic storage – external storage of any vendor. It must be connected as block device to the Accelario server.

Source Server – The server where the source database is running. It is used in read-only mode.

Source DB - the Accelario Virtualization connects to various types of physical databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres, to extract data from them. This data is then used to create virtual databases.

Target Server – The server that runs the VDBs. This server is actually consuming CPU, memory, network and any other resources needed to run the VDBs

Accelario agent – a software component that runs on source and target servers. It communicates with the Accelario Server and performs operations on the source and target servers, e.g. startup database, shutdown database, connecting virtual volume.

Network - the Accelario Server uses a network to connect the various components together. This allows for data to be exchanged between the components and enables the Accelario platform to function as a cohesive unit.

SQL Server special – Accelario Virtualization automatically restores backups from a pre-defined directory into source server. In this case the source server acts as staging server. The prerequisite is that production database will generate its backups into the pre-defined directory on a regular basis.

This architecture allows for the creation of virtual copies of databases, which can be used for development, testing and reporting purposes without affecting the production environment. This leads to faster development cycles and improved testing capabilities, reducing the time and cost associated with managing multiple copies of a database.

Admin Access

The admin connects to Accelario Server using a web browser. The authentication may be either:

  1. Internal Accelario user and password

  2. Active Directory integration

  • No labels
