MS-SQL Target Management

General

A target host is a server that hosts the target databases - VDB’s. The target includes definitions of DB Homes - which are the SQL Server instances that are running on the target hosts and are used to run VDBs.

Targets management

  1. On the navigation bar, click Targets.
    The Target Hosts view is displayed, listing all target hosts that have been added to the system

You can quickly locate a target host by typing its letters on the Search bar. The list updates promptly.

The target host maybe Windows only.

In case FILESTREAM data exists on the customer database - configure the MS-SQL instance as described here.

Target DB Home

Add a DB Home

  1. On the navigation bar, click Targets.

  2. Select the required agent

  3. Click the (+) sign in the right panel

  4. Select a DB type.

  5. Enter a name for the DB Home and an optional description

Name - name of the DB Home. Used only inside Accelario
Description - an optional description
Target Host - a target host that was installed earlier. Should be Windows server only

  1. The application runs an automatic discovery of all running MSSQL instances and presents them in a list.

  2. Enter details

    Instance name - choose from the list
    VDB User - enter a MSSQL login that will be created in all the future VDB’s
    VDB Password - enter a password for the above user

  3. Click Add to create the DB Home

Modify a DB Home

  1. On the navigation bar, click Targets.

  2. Select the required agent

  3. Select the required DB Home

  4. Click Modify DB Home.

  5. The Modify DB Home window appears. Modify the DB Home details as required. Same parameters as in adding DB Home, but the “Target Host” and “Instance name” cannot be changed.

  6. To save your changes, click Modify.

See information about a DB Home

  1. On the navigation bar, click Targets.

  2. Select the required agent

  3. Select the required DB Home

  4. Click DB Home info.

  5. To return to the main Target Management work area, click Close.

Delete a DB Home

  1. On the navigation bar, click Targets.

  2. Select the required agent

  3. Select the required DB Home

  4. Click Remove DB Home.

  5. Click Remove to confirm the deletion or Cancel to exit without deleting the DB Home.

After the DB Home is removed, the following message appears: DB Home has been removed.
